A. RLegal is a private client firm and does not undertake work under the Legal Aid Scheme. If you would like to find a firm who undertake Legal Aid you may wish to contact the Law Society or the Solicitors Regulation Authority to find a solicitor who can assist you under the scheme.

No, RLegal only undertake UK inbound immigration related work.

No, RLegal do not assist with Schengen visas.

The NHS surcharge was introduced by the Immigration Act 2014 to ensure individuals who apply for a visa of more than 6 months duration make a financial contribution in order to benefit from its services.

A fee of £1035 and £776 for dependants or £776 for students and dependants or Youth Mobility scheme applicants for a whole or each part of year must be paid as part of the respective immigration application, unless one of the following exemptions applies:

  • health care worker or dependants
  • diplomat or visiting armed forces personnel exempt from immigration control
  • dependant of armed forces personnel
  • domestic worker identified as victim of modern slavery
  • applying through domestic violence concession and dependants
  • applying through the EU Settlement Scheme
  • frontier worker
  • asylum seeker and those applying for humanitarian protection.

If you fail to make the application a caseworker should request payment of the fee, if you are within the UK this must be paid within 10 working days and 7 working days if outside the UK, otherwise the entire application will be rejected.

Yes, we act on behalf of many clients who are abroad. We are able to take instructions through Zoom or other online platforms, email and, of course, telephone. Clients can scan or send correspondence by a secure method such as courier or registered post.

We are located in central London, but are able to assist clients irrespective of where they are, see above.

No, we are an independent firm of solicitors regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We do of course liaise with the Home Office and UK Immigration Service when acting on behalf of our clients.
